Overview
Are you passionate about building stronger, more connected communities? Do you believe that small moments of human connection can make a big impact? Join the GenWell movement as a Human Connector and help spark connection, reduce social isolation, and inspire change in your community or online.
Our Human Connectors engage in one of two volunteer pathways, Community Catalyst or Social Ambassador, to bring the GenWell mission to life in their own authentic ways. Whether you’re starting local meetups or spreading the message online, you’re helping build a more connected Canada.
Volunteer Pathways
Choose one (or both!) when applying – and feel free to shift as your journey evolves.
Community Catalyst (In-Person Volunteering)
As a Community Catalyst, you take the GenWell mission offline and into the real world. Inspired by our message, you’ll create your own opportunities to bring people together – whether it’s hosting a neighbourhood picnic, starting a walking group, running a connection-themed book club, or organizing meetups aligned with GenWell campaigns.
These initiatives are entirely your own, guided by your passion and interests — but you’ll have access to tools, inspiration, and community support from the GenWell team and network.
What you might do:
- Organize connection-based events or meetups in your local area
- Align your gatherings with national campaigns like GenWell Weekend, Face-to-Face February, or Talk To A Stranger Week
- Act as a liaison between GenWell and your community, identifying opportunities to engage more people in the mission
- Promote social health workshops in your area to educate others about the importance of human connection for mental and physical well-being
- Gather stories and feedback to help GenWell learn and grow
Social Ambassador (Online Volunteering)
As a Social Ambassador, you’ll share the power of human connection online by engaging your digital community. You’ll post about GenWell campaigns, share connection stories, and create content that inspires others to take small actions that make a big difference.
What you might do:
- Share GenWell campaign content and your own connection experiences on social media
- Create short videos, posts, or reels that highlight the importance of social health
- Engage with your local online community by commenting, responding, and inviting participation
- Represent the movement in a way that feels natural and true to your voice
Who You Are
- Passionate about human connection and reducing social isolation
- A self-starter with strong communication skills
- Comfortable engaging with others – in person or online
- Curious, kind, and community-oriented
- Experience with event planning, community outreach, or content creation is a plus, but not required
What You’ll Get
- A chance to make a real impact in your community or network
- Support and training from the GenWell team
- Access to toolkits, resources, and national campaigns
- New friendships, experiences, and leadership opportunities
- A meaningful role in a growing movement focused on social health and connection
